Using sparse optical flow for multiple Kinect applications
نویسندگان
چکیده
The use of Multiple Microsoft Kinects has become prominent in the last two years and enjoyed widespread acceptance. While several work has been published to mitigate quality degradations in the precomputed depth image, this work focuses on employing an optical flow suitable for dot patterns as employed in the Kinect to retrieve subtle scene data alterations for reconstruction. The method is employed in a multiple Kinect vision architecture to detect the interface of propane flow around occluding objects in air.

Registro global de nuvens de pontos RGB-D em tempo real usando fluxo óptico e marcadores
Registration of point clouds captured by depth sensors is an important task in 3D reconstruction applications based on computer vision. In many applications with strict performance requirements, the registration should be executed not only with precision, but also in the same frequency as data is acquired by the sensor. This thesis proposes the use of the pyramidal sparse optical flow algorithm...
متن کاملTraffic Scene Analysis using Hierarchical Sparse Topical Coding
Analyzing motion patterns in traffic videos can be exploited directly to generate high-level descriptions of the video contents. Such descriptions may further be employed in different traffic applications such as traffic phase detection and abnormal event detection. One of the most recent and successful unsupervised methods for complex traffic scene analysis is based on topic models. In this pa...
متن کاملRGB-D, Laser and Thermal Sensor Fusion for People Following in a Mobile Robot
Detecting and tracking people is a key capability for robots that operate in populated environments. In this paper, we used a multiple sensor fusion approach that combines three kinds of sensors in order to detect people using RGB-D vision, lasers and a thermal sensor mounted on a mobile platform. The Kinect sensor offers a rich data set at a significantly low cost, however, there are some limi...
متن کاملMethod for Calculating View-Invariant 3D Optical Strain
Optical strain maps calculated during a facial expression describe a bio-mechanical property of facial skin tissue, and are derived from the non-rigid motion incurred during facial expressions. In this paper, we propose a method for accurately estimating and modeling the three-dimensional strain impacted onto the face using standard optical flow techniques and a dynamic depth map. We demonstrat...
متن کاملFlowCap: 2D Human Pose from Optical Flow
We estimate 2D human pose from video using only optical flow. The key insight is that dense optical flow can provide information about 2D body pose. Like range data, flow is largely invariant to appearance but unlike depth it can be directly computed from monocular video. We demonstrate that body parts can be detected from dense flow using the same random forest approach used by the Microsoft K...
